Outspoken is the voted title given to our school council. The group was formed to enable students and staff to discuss important issues affecting the Academy. The group meet each Tuesday lunchtime for 30 minutes. Every alternate Tuesday, the group do the recycling for each classroom, including the office and staff room.
The group is made up of representatives from all 14-19 classes, and some pupils from KS3. At the start of each year, each class votes for their representative and members can change termly or stay the full year.
We are involved in fundraising, special interest days, and help out in assemblies. We sometimes work with charities from outside school. Members provide a voice for their classes
Staff members are Janet Smith and Karen Hicklin.

Keiran to find out when Comic Relief and Sports Relief is ready for our next meeting as this could be next term’s Outspoken project.
Sports Relief is on Sunday 20th March 2016. Ideas could be – running a football tournament, having a charity run/jog/walk. Maybe having the event sponsored or bringing money to join in. maybe having stalls selling drinks, snacks etc to make more money.
Val to look on calendar to see what is happening around that date.
Around the world day
The grid is up in the staffroom with a list of countries for classes to decide upon. Staff are already filling them in and Val will email and say in bulletin to remind them .
Kieran from group 1 has volunteered to produce a ‘who wants to be a millionaire’ quiz – Christmas based for next weeks Handprint.
Next meeting – Thursday 10th December-
Look at grids ready for staff use.
Email staff to remind then to put all photos etc in Presentation Evening folder in Multi-media especially with the build up to Christmas.
