Learning for Life
8 students took part in the annual Broxtowe 2k and 5k Run. Supported by 4 staff members, 4 students took part in each of the 2 'races'. the group had taken part in a few training sessions during the weeks leading up to the Easter break but, for many, this was the first time they had actually run the full distance of the course. The training was done by Sam Hicklin and he quickly instilled the motto of "Keep Moving Forward". On a cool but dry evening, all students did themselves and Foxwood proud and completed the course. Below are a few images taken at the event.
For the first year for some time, Foxwood Academy held a Spring Fair. Staff and students from across the Academy designed, made and sold items. Others provided refreshments. Everyone worked really hard and it was great to see so many parents and carers supporting the event. The event raised £380 and classes will have the opportunity to spend some of that on resources or an event.
Although the official WBD is Thursday 3rd March, Foxwood decided to celebrate by allowing students and staff to dress up as characters from their favourite books. The Rabbits class held a preloved book sale and staff read from Rumble in the Jungle to create a 'Jackanory' style video. There was prizes for best costumes and other competitions through the day.
In the year of the Rio Olympics and Paralympic Games, we had a visit from someone hoping to be at Rio in the first para-triathlon event. During the afternoon he led all the students (and a few staff) in an exercise circuit and then gave a whole school assembly. Some of the pictures of the event are below
